How To Choose: Your Hybrid Club

Hybrids are a cross between iron and wood. Easier to play, they replace the less tolerant long irons (1, 2, 3-irons). It is still important to choose a shaft that matches the speed of your swing.

Which hybrid?

  • A 16° hybrid club has a loft roughly equivalent to a 2-iron.
  • A 19° hybrid club has a loft roughly equivalent to a 3-iron.
  • A 22° hybrid club has a loft roughly equivalent to a 4-iron.
  • A 25° hybrid club has a loft roughly equivalent to a 5-iron.

Further information

Hybrids are also known as “rescue clubs”. The advantage of hybrids is that they combine the tolerance of fairway wood with the precision of a long ironNote that it is preferable to choose a shaft similar to a fairway wood in order to enjoy the same performance.

If you’re looking forward to a more forgiving club Decathlon has a range of hybrid clubs that you’re welcome to check out.
